Ronald Aycock, Executive Director <br /> <br />DATE: December 11, 1998 <br /> <br />Enclosed are materials related to the Association's Legislative agenda for 1999. These include: <br /> <br />Voting Procedures for the 1999 Legislative Goals Conference, to be held January 14-15, 1999 at <br />the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Research Triangle Park. You have already received Voting <br />Delegate Designation forms and registration materials for the Legislative Goals Conference. <br />Please take special note of the revised procedure and deadline that apply to submission of <br />goals that have not been previously approved by the Board of Directors (see attached form). <br /> <br />II. A list of twenty-five (25) Proposed Legislative Goals recommended by the Board of Directors, in <br /> the following areas: <br /> <br />1. Environment (2) <br />2. Criminal Justice (2) <br />3. Public Education (4) <br />4. Human Resources (1) <br />5. Taxation and Finance (7) <br />6. General Government (9) <br /> <br />III. Association Policy Statements to be adopted at the Legislative Goals Conference. Note that <br /> amendments have been proposed to the policy statements dealing with Education, Taxation and <br /> Finance and Intergovernmental Relations. In addition, a redrafted Policy Statement in the Human <br /> Resources area and a Proposed Criminal Justice Policy Statement will be reviewed by Association <br /> committees prior to the Legislative Goals Conference. <br /> <br />We hope you, the other members of your boards and other county officials will review and discuss <br />these proposals in the time between now and our conference January 14-15.
