Ronald Aycock, Executive Director DATE: December 11, 1998 Enclosed are materials related to the Association's Legislative agenda for 1999. These include: Voting Procedures for the 1999 Legislative Goals Conference, to be held January 14-15, 1999 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Research Triangle Park. You have already received Voting Delegate Designation forms and registration materials for the Legislative Goals Conference. Please take special note of the revised procedure and deadline that apply to submission of goals that have not been previously approved by the Board of Directors (see attached form). II. A list of twenty-five (25) Proposed Legislative Goals recommended by the Board of Directors, in the following areas: 1. Environment (2) 2. Criminal Justice (2) 3. Public Education (4) 4. Human Resources (1) 5. Taxation and Finance (7) 6. General Government (9) III. Association Policy Statements to be adopted at the Legislative Goals Conference. Note that amendments have been proposed to the policy statements dealing with Education, Taxation and Finance and Intergovernmental Relations. In addition, a redrafted Policy Statement in the Human Resources area and a Proposed Criminal Justice Policy Statement will be reviewed by Association committees prior to the Legislative Goals Conference. We hope you, the other members of your boards and other county officials will review and discuss these proposals in the time between now and our conference January 14-15.
