VOTING PROCEDURES <br />LEGISLATIVE GOALS CONFERENCE <br />JANUARY 14-15, 1999 <br /> <br />1. Voting <br /> <br />Each member county represented is entitled to cast one vote on goals presented at the <br />Conference. A county's vote may be cast by any properly designated county official <br />(voting delegate or alternate) in attendance at the meeting. <br /> <br />2. Legislative goals <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Legislative goals recommended by the Board of Directors shall be adopted <br />upon receipt of a majority of votes cast; and may be amended by a majority of <br />votes cast. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Legislative goals not recommended by or not submitted to the Board of <br />Directors must be presented to the presiding officer or to either co-chair of the <br />Legislative goals committee by 11:00 a.m. on the first day of the Legislative <br />goals conference. The general subject matter of these goals will be announced <br />at the conclusion of the first day of the conference. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br />Goals submitted in accordance with paragraph (2) above shall be reviewed by <br />the goals Screening Committee composed of the chairs of the six steering <br />committees and the co-chairs of the Legislative Goals committee. The <br />Screening Committee shall be chaired by the First Vice-President. The <br />Screening Committee shall recommend approval or disapproval of each goal <br />submitted in accordance with paragraph (2) above. <br /> <br />Legislative goals submitted in accordance with paragraph (2) above and <br />reviewed and recommended for approval by the Screening Committee in <br />accordance with paragraph (3) above shall be adopted upon receipt of a <br />majority of votes cast; and may be amended by a majority of votes cast. <br />Goals submitted pursuant to paragraph (2) and recommended for disapproval <br />by the Screening Committee shall not be eligible for consideration. <br /> <br />iSshared\jiraWotingproleggoals.doc <br /> <br /> <br />
