RBRIH CAROLIWA November 1, 1996 Dr. Ed Tyson, Superintendent Kannapolis City Schools Post Office Box 1268 Kannapolis, North Carolina 28082 Dear Dr. Tyson: I have been asked to provide authorization for you to proceed with preliminary survey work and site testing for a new school proposed for County owned land on Little Texas Road, Kannapolis (see attached site plan). Closure with Lake Concord Ventures, Inc. on the sale of the adjacent County owned property has not yet occurred. Nor has the County taken any official action to set aside the proposed property for a school site. However, the Board of Commissioners have through their negotiations with the developer suggested the proposed site for the location of an elementary school. To move forward with the new school project in a timely manner, I believe there are actions that could be taken by the Kannapolis School System consistent with previous actions taken by the parties involved: (1) Kannapolis Schools may move forward with survey and site testing work to be associated with location of the new school. (2) Kannapolis Schools should meet with the developers to make sure that the site plan layout is consistent with our previous discussions and existing contractual agreements. (3) Once a final site survey is complete, a request for the County Commission to transfer the land to the school system should be pursued. (P.r. oposed terms of that transfer should be detailed as part ?fthat request.) Hopefully, this correspondence will serve as sufficient acknowledgment to allow you to proceed in a timely manner. I look forward to working with you, the City of Kannapolis and Lake Concord Ventures on what hopefully will be a very successful collaboration.
