60' x 190') and one instructional soccer field approximately (40' x 60). The proposed facilities to
be constructed at the present football practice field: one regulation baseball/softball field (300 ft.
distance) one youth size baseball/softball field (200 ft. distance). All the proposed athletic
facilities will be lighted, fenced, turfed and irrigated. The proposed regulation fields on
Highway 49 will have portable fencing panels to allow for the other purposes. The total cost of
all improvements is projected at approximately $150,000 to $200,000. Mr. Butch Little,
Principal at Mt. Pleasant Middle School, has approved these proposed plans. This project is
being undertaken by joint efforts of the Mt. Pleasant Youth Soccer and Mt. Pleasant Youth
Baseball/Softball Associations. Both of these associations have set aside $10,000 each for a total
of $20,000 to be utilized to develop these facilities. This project has been proposed to be
completed in phases. These community organizations have plans to raise additional funds
toward these projects.

On March 27, 1997, Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission approved to
recommend to the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners for a $20,000 Matching Incentive
Grant for the Mt. Pleasant Middle School/Park Project.
