Proposed Change <br />Cabarrus County Personnel Ordinance <br />Article VI, Leaves of Absence <br />Section 6 <br /> <br />Section 6. Annual Leave - Manner of Accumulation <br /> <br />The anniversary date of employment shall be used for determining earned annual leave. Any employee <br />working the basic workweek shall earn annual leave at the following rates: <br /> <br />Schedule A <br /> <br />Years of Aggregate Service Leave Earned Bi-Weekly Leave Earned Yearly <br />Less than 5 years 3 hours 4 minutes & 37 seconds 80 hours & 2 seconds (10+ days) <br />5 but less than 10 years 4 hours 104 hours (13 days) <br />10 but less than 15 years 4 hours 36 minutes & 55 seconds 119 hours 59 minutes & 50 seconds <br /> (15- days) <br />15 but less than 20 years 5 hours 13 minutes & 51 seconds 136 hours & 6 seconds (17+ days) <br />20 years plus 6 hours 9 minutes & 14 seconds 160 hours & 4 seconds (20+ days)~ <br /> <br />Schedule A is for all persons hired or rehired on July 1, 1997, or thereafter; and those in full-time County <br />employment immediately prior to that date who voluntarily chose to change from Schedule B effective, <br />July 1, 1997, under the following conditions: <br /> <br />County paid health and life insurance coverage will be provided to employees qualifying for retirement <br />as a member of the North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System with at least <br />ten of their creditable years being in the service of Cabarms County. These benefits will be paid at the <br />same level as for active employees and will be provided to retired employees until they become <br />eligible for Medicare (or reach the age where they would have had such benefits if they had been <br />qualified for Social Security). <br /> <br />Employees qualifying for retirement in the North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement <br />System but with less than ten years of service with Cabarms County shall receive one-half of the <br />benefit provided to retiring employees with at least ten years of service with Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />Employees earning more annual leave than listed on Schedule A for their years of service, will have <br />their annual leave accrual rate remain at the then current level until or when advancement in seniority <br />entitles them to earn an increased amount of leave. The exception -~ employees earning more than <br />twenty days of annual leave a year will as of July l, 1997, and thereafter, earn at a rate of twenty days a <br />year. <br /> <br /> <br />
