Land clearing debris is chipped by each entity and used for <br />mulching and composting. <br /> <br />The county does not have a current compositional study, at this time, of its <br />own residential waste. Therefore, Table 3 is taken from Volume I of the North <br />Carolina Recycling and Solid Waste Management Plan. This state study shows <br />that the most prevalent materials in the residential waste stream are paper: <br />plastics, and organics. Using the tons of residential waste that Cabarrus <br />County and its municipalities estimated were disposed in FY 1995-96, the <br />amounts of different materials in the local waste stream can be calculated. <br /> <br />Table 3.
