279 <br /> <br />DRAFT' <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 1997-1~ <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a common boundary line separates Iredell and Cabarrus <br />Counties; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, over the years since the counties were created, the exact <br />location of said common boundary has been lost; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the location of the common boundary is important for a <br />number of reasons, including, but not limited to, (a) determination <br />of which county has taxing authority, (b) determination of where the <br />residents vote; (c) determination of which schools children attend, <br />and (d) determination of which zoning, health, and other ordinances <br />are applicable; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the NC Geodetic Survey Section, Land Resources Division, <br />NC Department of Natural Resources and Co~munity Development will <br />install permanent mon~.ents at all corners in the common line <br />established by agreement of the counties, will survey the common <br />line locating monuments along same at approximately 3,000 foot <br />intervals, and will prepare a map for both counties showing the <br />newly established boundary lines; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, representatives of Iredell and Cabarrus County have met, <br />visited the area of the colmuon boundary, and have agreed upon the <br />location upon the ground of all corners in the common boundary line, <br />and now wish to engage the services of the NC Geodetic Survey <br />Section to permanently survey the common line, mark the corners and <br />prepare a map. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT JOINTLY RESOLVED BY THE BOARDS OF COMMISSION- <br />ERS OF CABARRUS AND IREDELL COUNTY: <br /> <br /> 1. The following corner is established by consent: a point in <br />the center of Coddle Creek, said point being located approximately <br />800 feet north of Archer Road on the land of C. L. Mesimer. A more <br />accurate description is approximate Latitude 35 degrees 30 minutes <br />20.93292 seconds North and Longitude 80 degrees 44 minutes 14.58431 <br />seconds East based on the North American Datum of 1983. (The precise <br />location of this point in the center of the creek and the eccentric <br />monument to be located on the bank of the creek will be determined <br />by the North Carolina Geodetic Survey. This will be done by <br />int~rsecting Coddle Creek with a line between the corner of Iredell, <br />Mecklenburg, and Cabarrus Counties located in the Rocky River <br />witnessed by a stone monument found, inscribed on the north side <br />with a "I", the west side with a "M", the east side with a "C" and <br />the Stanly, Cabarrus, and Rowan corner witnessed by a railroad iron <br />found imbedded in the ground.) <br /> <br /> 2, The NC Geodetic Survey Section, Land Resources Division, <br />NC Department of Natural Resources end Community Development be, and <br />it hereby is. requested to: <br /> <br />a) Install permanent monuments at all corners in the <br /> common line between Iredell County and Cabarrus County; <br />b) Survey the common line and locate monuments along the <br /> same at approximately 3,000 foot intervals; <br />c) Prepare a map of the common line between Iredell County <br /> and Cabarrus County suitable for recording in the <br /> office of the Register of Deeds in both counties; <br />d) Upon completion of the survey and presentation to both <br /> counties of a map, the map will be reviewed by the <br /> Board of Commissioners of each county and their <br /> respective staffs and. if found to be in order, the <br /> boundary line thus established will be adopted as the <br /> official common boundary between Iredell County and <br /> Cabarrus County, and the map of said survey will be <br /> recorded as an official map of said common boundary <br /> line. <br /> <br />This 6ch day of September, 1994. <br /> <br /> <br />
