3~7 <br /> <br /> ~HEREAS, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners has <br />tom[tied to providing an efficient and effective Emergency Medical <br />Services Department to protect the health and well being of the <br />County's citizens and visitors; end <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Fieldcrest Cannon provided space for a County <br />ambulance station at its fire department at Plant Number 1; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the National Association of Counties has honored <br />Cabarrus County for this Joint project with a 1997 Achievement <br />Award, given in recognition of an innovative program which <br />contributes to and enhances County government in the United States. <br /> <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners salutes Fieldcrest Cannon for its visionary community <br />activism evidenced through this cooperative public - private <br />partnership in support of the public safety and welfare; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this cooperative venture will <br />serve as an example to the Nation of the benefits of good relations <br />between government and industry. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 21st Day of July, 1997. <br /> <br />/s/ Sue B. Casper <br />Chairman, Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Presentation of the 1997 National Association of Counties Achievement Award to <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />the Department of A~in~ for its Weatherlzatton/Housin~ and Rome Improvement <br />Pro,ram <br /> <br /> Mr. Blair Bennett, Deputy County Manager for Administration, recognized the <br />Department of Aging for its Weatherization/Rousing and Home Improvement Program <br />which was selected by the National Association of Counties to receive a 1997 <br />Achievement Award. Staff and local volunteers assist the elderly and disabled <br />in the county by building wheelchair ramps, installing safety bars, repairing <br />roofs, porches and steps and completing weathertzation projects. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Carpenter presented the award to Mr. Mike Murphy (Aging <br />Director): Mr. Louls Partain (Weatherizatton Coordinator); and Ms. Doris Hagler <br />(Chair of the Awards Committee of the Department of Aging Advisory Board). <br /> <br />Presentation of Award--of Financial Reportln~ Achievement to Pamela S. Duboisr <br />Assistant Finance Director <br /> <br /> Con~lssloner Carpenter read the news release announcing that the Government <br />Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada had awarded the <br />Certificate of Achievement in Excellence in Financial Reporting to Cabarrus <br />County for its comprehensive annual financial report. Chairman Casper presented <br />the Certificate of Achievement to Ms. Pamela S.
