Mr. Harold B. McEachern
Page 2
May 5, 1997

A site on Highway 49 as outlined in our discussion with the State officials on Friday offers the Fair
a future with expanded options. Certainly, there are costs associated with any move along with
unforeseen challenges. However, if the Fair stays where it is after the County sells its land, the Fails
future options are established by the twelve (12) acres it now owns and the potential for limited off-
site parking options.

Finally, to help put the timeliness of the Fair Board's discussion into clear perspective, I plan to seek
County Commission authorization to advise the Fair Board of the County's intention to sell its land
at Highway 601/29 and subsequent notice to terminate the current lease with the Fair. Board for use
of county owned land for fair parking within the one-year notice requirement (see attachment).

I will recommend that the County extend the leased parking availability on a month-to-month basis
pending any proposed sale of the County's land after the one-year notice period expires.

IfI can be of any assistance to you or the Fair Board in discussing these options, please advise. As
always, I appreciate the opportunity to work with you on these or other issues important to the
County's future.

Respectfully,

FWC/sb

Attachment

cc: Board of Commissioners

bc:

Fletcher Hartsell
Blair Bennett
Jonathan Marshall
John Day
