Sheriff's Department - Authorization to Purchase Radio Equipment for the County- Wide 800 MHz Radio System Usin~ the City of Concord's Originel Radio Equipment Bid Awarded ro Motorola (FY 1997-98 Budget Proposal) UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request by the Sheriff's Department to 'piggyback' a Radio Communication Bid awarded by the City of Concord to Motorola on January 9, 1997 for the purchase of portable and mobile radios for the new county-wide 800 MHz radio system as authorized by North Carolina Ceneral Statute 143-129. Sheriff's Department - Acceptance of U.S. Dgpartment of Justice Grant to Up~rade Computer System; Authorization to Purchase Equipment from Current Vendor Using the 'Sole Source' Purchase Exemption Contained in G.S. 143-129; and Adoption of Related Budget Amendment UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and unanimously carried, the Board accepted the COPS More Grant in the amount of $%76,709.00 from the U. S. Department of Justice to upgrade the computer system for the Sheriff's Department and authorized the purchase of equipment directly from the current vendor (VISIONS) using the 'Sole Source" purchase exemption contained in North Carolina General Statute 143-129. Further, the Board adopted the following budget amendment. Ordinance No. 1997-11 ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISE ORDINANCE WHEREAS, Time Warner Cable holds a franchise to provide cable television service for Cabarrus County; and WHEREAS, negotiations on a new franchise agreement are continuing between Time Warner Cable and Cabarrus County; and WHEREAS, Time Warner General Manager Bob Melton has agreed to an extension of the current cable television franchise issued to Time Warner Cable with a franchise fee of five percent (5%) of gross revenues.
