Clifton, Jr., County Manag RE: Consent Agenda Item #18 - Authorization for County Manager to Acquire Architectural Services (Not to Exceed $20,000) for the Purpose of Reviewing Space Requirements Related to County Agricultural Extension Office Relocation Options As you know, the Board of Commissioners has agreed to a proposed sale of the County land that now serves as the site of Agricultural Extension Services (et al.). A time-line has been established that requires us to move forward to address relocation needs created by the land sale. It is prudent to retain the services of an architect to "evaluate space requirements" of the existing agriculture related County services. (This is not a design contract.) We do have several alternative near-term and long-term options that need to be evaluated before a final direction is pursued. There is not time available to build a new facility for these services before the County will vacate the land to the new owner(s). We have short-term locational needs. We will address them in a timely manner. If you approve this request, options to be addressed by an architect include: I. Real space requirements based upon existing County programs related to Agricultural Services (et al.) A. Types and size of activities B. Opportunity for external uses C. Coordinated functions II. Short-term location options (pending a final location being prepared) A. Re-use of the current Health Department building B. Rental of sufficient existing one location space (if available) C. Rental of sufficient existing multi-location space (if available) D. Use of existing County building space for some functions as interim location Office of the County Manager P. O.
