ICASARRUSCOUN I
NORIH £A~OtlNA

Memorandum

Date:

To:

From:

Subject:

November 18, 1997

Concord City Council Members
Cabarrus County Commissioners

Linda Giltz ~//'~
Planner, Town of Harrisburg and Cabarrus County

Amendments to the Thoroughfare Plan in the Harrisburg Area

I have been working with the Town of Harrisburg and NC DOT's Statewide Planning
department over the last few months on some revisions to the Cabarrus-South Rowan
Urban Area Thoroughfare Plan. The Town would like to modify the alignment of three
planned future roadways on the Thoroughfare Plan and I have included a map which
shows these changes as well as a copy of the current Plan's proposed alignments. I have
also included a copy of the resolution that the Harrisburg Town Council passed on
November 10, 1997, which describes the changes.

Since two of the alignments fall partially inside Concord's municipal boundaries and one
of road goes through Cabarrus County's jurisdiction, the Concord City Council and
Cabarms County Board of Commissioners also must approve these changes by
resolution. Once all the jurisdictions have approved the changes, the resolutions will be
forwarded to the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) for their approval.

I would appreciate it if you would consider and pass the enclosed resolution at your next
scheduled meeting. Please call me if you have any questions.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Planning Services Division

P. O. Box 707 ,, Concord.
