Resolution No. 1997-43 <br /> <br /> Resolution passed by the <br />Board of Commissioners of <br />Cabarrus County, North Carolina <br /> <br /> The following resolution was offered by Councilman and <br />seconded by Councilman and upon being put to a vote was carried <br /> on the __ day of ,1997: <br /> <br /> THAT WHEREAS, Cabarms County and the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation did mutually adopt a transportation plan for the urban area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute 136-66-2(d) provides that either the <br />Municipality or Department of Transportation may propose changes in an adopted plan at any <br />time by giving notice to the other party, but no change shall be effective until it is adopted by <br />both the Department of Transportation and the municipal governing board; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is recognized that the proper movement of traffic within and through <br />Cabarrus County is a highly desirable element of the transportation plan for the orderly growth <br />and development of the urban area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has become desirable to make some revisions in the Cabarrus-South <br />Rowan Urban Area Transportation Plan based on additional studies of thoroughfare locations <br />and alignments: <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />OF CABARRUS COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA: <br /> <br /> That the Cabarrus-South Rowan Urban Area Thoroughfare Plan, dated June 1995, be <br />revised as follows, subject to the approval of the Department of Transportation: <br /> <br />The alignment of the Northern Corridor (recommended in the Thoroughfare Plan as a <br />new major thoroughfare) be shifted further out from its current proposed alignment. <br />It should begin at the proposed intersection of Caldwell Road (SR1173) and <br />Morehead Road and continue east-northeast to the sharp bend in Pitts School Road <br />(see accompanying map). It then should follow the current alignment of Pitts School <br />Road, southeast to Roberta Road. Next it should continue south to NC 49, going just <br />east of Waterloo Drive as it nears NC 49. <br /> <br />Please refer to the accompanying map for a graphical representation of these proposed <br />changes in alignments. <br /> <br />Cabarms County, Thoroughfare Plan Resolution <br /> <br />Page I <br /> <br /> <br />
