ANDERSON, CHIEF DEPUTY <br />CABARRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br /> <br />EFFECTIVE DATE OF RETIREMENT 1-1-9~' <br /> <br />Larry Anderson began his career with the Cabarrus County Sherifffs Office on August 1, 1970. <br /> <br />Prior to that time he had served 2 years in the United States Army. <br /> <br />Larry and his wife Sylvia, who is a Sergeant w/th the Kannapolis Police Department, have two sons, <br />Larry, Jr. and Michael Todd Anderson. Larry and Sylvia are both lifelong Kannapolis residents and are <br />members of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. <br /> <br />Larry began work at the SheriWs Office as a Jail Officer, moved to the patrol division where he worked <br />for a number of years and then went to the telecommunications division. <br /> <br />In 1973 he was promoted to detective in the newly fi,rmed criminal investigations division. In 1974 he <br />was promoted to detective sergeant. <br /> <br />During his time with the department Larry continued his education earning this Associates Degree in <br />Police Science from Central Piedmont Community College in 1974. He has als(> completed well over <br />1000 hours of specialized training iii law entbrcement related subjects. <br /> <br />In 1979 Larry volunteered to assume leadership of the.jail division as a lieutenant. During his time in the <br />.jail he made many changes to the procedures and dkl an outstanding .job in upgrading the.jail policies and <br />procedures. <br /> <br />In December of [982 Larry ,.vas promoted to the rank of Captain over the Services Division of the <br />Sheriff's office which included telecommunications, jail, criminal investigations, training and <br />recruitment, and court security. <br /> <br />In 1989 he was promoted to the rank of Chief Deputy and has served in that position since that time. <br /> <br />Larry is an outstanding law e~fforcement professional and has served the citizens of Cabarrus County in <br />an exemplary manner for over 27 years. <br /> <br />I can honestly say that Larry has given unselfishly of his time and efforts for the benefit of the <br />department in service to the citizens of Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />We congratulate him on his retirement and wish him well in his future endeavors.
