Canaday, Sheriff <br /> <br /> ON THE RETIREMENT OF <br />LIEUTENANT DARRELL JOYNER <br />CABARRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br /> <br />EFFECTIVE DATE OF RETIREMENT 1-1-98 <br /> <br />Darrell Joyner began his career with the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office on April 21, <br />1971. <br /> <br />Prior to that time he served three years in the United States Army with one year being in <br />Viet Nam. <br /> <br />He is married to Brenda Joyner and they have two children. Brian Joyner and Mindy <br />loyner. <br /> <br />Darrell and his thmily are active members of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. <br /> <br />Darrell began service with ti~e departtnent as a patrol officers and has spent time in <br />various divisions including the telecommunications and hospital divisions. <br /> <br />Since 1982 he se,"ved as patro! Sergeant and patrol Lieutenant. <br /> <br />During his time with the department Darrell has continued his education attaining .his <br />Associated Degree in Police Science from Central Piedmont Community College in 1974 <br />and received his Bachelors Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminology in 1977. <br /> <br />In addition to his personal efforts to enhance his education he has received specialized <br />training in various law enforcement related subjects. <br /> <br />Darrell has been active in his community having served 29 years with the A.T. Allen <br />volunteer fire department and is currently on their board of directors. <br /> <br />Darrell has done an outstanding job for the citizens of Cabarrus County and I appreciate <br />his dedication to service that he has demonstrated over the past 26 years. <br /> <br />We congratulate him on his retirement and wish him well in all his future endeavors. <br /> <br />P.O.
