Center. <br /> <br /> Present Approved <br />Account No. Budget <br />01-6-17-10-901 6,539,168.95 <br /> Fund Balance Appropriated <br />01-6-57-70-303 100,135.00 <br />HCCBG Grant <br />01-9-57-70-748 110,149.00 <br />LIFE Center <br /> <br /> Revised <br />Increase Decrease Budget <br /> 1,978.00 6,541,146.95 <br /> <br /> 17,800.00 117,935.00 <br /> 19,778.00 129,927.O0 <br /> <br />Proclamation Relative to the 1998 United Way of Central Carolinas Campaign <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United Uay of Central Carolinas serves people who <br />live or work in Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, and Union Counties; and <br /> UHEREAS, the United Way of Central Carolinas assists 64 human <br />service agencies in Unio[L Cabarrus and Mecklenburg Counties; and <br /> WHEREAS, these 64 agencies provide a wide range of services <br />including emergency aid; emergency shelter; education and training <br />for jobs; health care, rehabilitation, counseling, and residential <br />programs for the elderly and disabled; advocacy to reduce violence <br />and teen pregnancies; low income housing preservation and <br />development; advocacy and services for children including early <br />childhood development and parenting classes; and information and <br />referral services; and <br /> WHEREAS, residents need these agencies to provide the wide range <br />of services that government does not and cannot provide directly; <br />and, <br /> UHEREAS, the 1998 campaign raised $26.5 million representing an <br />almost $5 million increase from the total raised during the previous <br />campaign; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 1998 campaign successfully garnered more individual <br />and corporate support from the three counties than ever before in <br />the 65-year history of the United Way; and <br /> WHEREAS, community volunteers chaired the United Way of the <br />Central Carolinas fundraising efforts during the 1998 campaign; and, <br /> <br /> <br />
