Page 2 of 2
$ 7,477,537 Aycock Elementary School:
This school replacement project is projected for..500 students with a core capacity for 800
students. The proposed school would be approximately 72,000 ft2. The State Facilities Commission
uses the cost of $82.30 per ft2. We feel that if constructed in the near future, the school could be built
for substantially less that the state estimates, especially if built on county-owned property and if the old
Aycock Elementary School site is sold for an appreciable amount to provide additional funding for this
project.

$ 3,359,572 Fred L. Wilson Elementary School:
The Fred L. Wilson project is to provide an appropriate media center/library. Initial proposals
indicate that the most cost effective approach would be to convert I of the present 4-room pods into
additional media center/library space. Therefore the project would build a new wing for modem
classroom sizes. The renovations would convert the current 4-room pods into 3-room pods to achieve
the appropriate classroom sizes. The building's classroom capacity would not be increased, however
the core capacity would be increased to prepare this school for additional students in the future. Roof
and HVAC replacements are also scheduled.

5; 1,441,600 Woodrow Wilson Elementary School:
The project is to renovate the existing building to provide classrooms of appropriate size. Also
included is the replacement of the HVAC and roof in the existing building. This would complete the
site design developed when the 1995 wing was planned.

$ 297,831 Jackson Park Elementary. School:
The projects for this site are only computer network/cabling and land purchase. Since the site
presently has only 6.7 acres, the land purchase would add to the site size and the school would
occupying the complete 2-block site.

$ 2,372,245 Shady Brook Elementary_ School:
The projects for this site are to renovate the current small classrooms into appropriate size
classrooms. Then the additional classrooms in the proposed new wing would restore the building to
a capacity consistent with its enrollment. Roof replacement on part of the building is included as well
as window replacement for energy efficiency.

McKnight Kindergarten School and System Wide Facilities:
This facilities needs survey does not address any projects at McKnight Kindergarten due to its
unknown future. Likewise, the system wide facilities for administration and maintenance are not
addressed based on priorities for instructional facilities.
