Parks

Frank Liske Park

: Frank Liske Park is located near the geographical
center of Cabarrus County at 4001 Stough Road in Concord.
The Park consists of 178 acres and offers many active and
passive recreational activities.

The Park has numerous picnic areas and shelters that
may be reserved in advance. Each of the larger shelters has
adjacent horseshoe pits, charcoal grills, and a volleyball
court. Horseshoes and volleyballs may be checked out at the
miniature golf course or from the Park Ranger at no charge.

The focal point of the Park is a refurbished dairy barn.
The barn has four areas that can accommodate up to a total
of 425 people. The upper level of the barn is frequently used
for birthday parties, reunions, weddings, and Christmas
parties. The upper level has heat and air conditioning while
the lower level has heat only. Another main attraction at the
Park is an 18 hole miniature golf course. The course is open
April thru October and also offers concessions.

The 9.2 acre lake is stocked with large mouth bass,
bream, and catfish and offers year round fishing. Paddleboat
rentals are also available on weekends during April thru
October.

Additional facilities at the Park include a lighted six
court tennis complex, softball complex with four fields, two
soccer fields, nature trail, fitness trail, and five play areas,
including an area for smaller children, and an ADA fitness
area.

During the past year Frank Liske Park has hosted the
Annual Indian Pow Wow in August, Holiday Highlights in
December, a Street Rod Car Show in September, a Rodeo in
October, and several state and regional softball tournaments
throughout the summer.

During the 1996-97 year Frank Liske Park will be
adding two small picnic shelters that will accommodate
approximately 50 people. These shelters should be com-
pleted by April of 1997.

We have also started construction of the new Park
Perimeter Trail. When completed this trail will be approxi-
mately two miles in length.

During 1995-96 we scheduled 1,057 8~lvance reserva-
tions for 59,634 people, an average group size of 56 people.
Total Park visitation totaled approximately 175,662 people.
