Play begins in April and runs through June with <br />games played at school facilities and city recreation facili- <br />ties. <br /> <br />Adult Basketball <br /> <br /> Leagues for adult basketball are offered in men's open, <br />industrial, and women's divisions, age 18 and over. Play, <br />begins in January and ends in March. Games are played at <br />city recreation facilities. <br /> <br />Adult Softball <br /> <br /> Adult softball continues to grow in popularity with 60 <br />teams participating in leagues for men's open, industrial, <br />church, and women's divisions, ages 18 and over. The <br />spring/summer leagues begin play in April and continue <br />through the end of July. The fall leagues begin in August and <br />end in October. Games are played at Frank Liske,Park and <br />Bakers Creek Park on weekday evenings. <br /> <br />Tennis Tournaments / Jr. Tennis Program <br /> <br /> Tennis tournaments where held in conjuncture with <br />two local festivals. In May, a tournament for all ages was <br />held during the Share Cabarrus Festival. Matches were <br />played at Frank Liske Park and the Cabarrus Country Club. <br />A junior tennis program was co-sponsored with the Concord <br />Tennis Association and the Concord Parks and Recreation <br />Department. Matches were held at Frank Liske Park, Bakers <br />Creek Park, Concord's Myers Park, and the Sportscenter. <br /> <br />Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament <br /> <br /> One hundred forty-four teams in seven divisions for <br />boys and girls participated in the 15 th annual Holiday Classic <br />Basketball Tournament. The tournament is co-sponsored <br />with Concord Parks and Recreation Department, and the <br />Cannon Memorial YMCA. Games are played at gymnasiums <br />located throughout the county. <br /> <br />Sports Clinics <br /> <br /> As a local chapteroftheNational Youth Sports Coaches <br />Association, 352 youth coaches were certified in soccer, <br />football, basketball, baseball and softball. Coaches receive <br />instruction in safety and first aid, proper sports techniques, <br />and sportsmanship. Each coach is required to sign a pledge <br />of commitment to place the needs of children first in sports. <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br /> <br />
