CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />~.AII~I~gNANC~ M]gCH~I~IC I <br />(Utilities) <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: An employee in this class <br />perfo£ms semi-skilled work on booster pumps, water tanks, sewer <br />pump stations and sewer metering stations. Work is performed under <br />the general supervision of the Maintenance and Construction <br />Foreman. <br /> <br />ESSE~TLAL JOB FUNCTIONS: <br /> <br />Performs mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on water <br />and sewer pump stations; <br /> <br />Recommends purchase of parts and materials; makes purchases as <br />authorized; <br /> <br />Maintains daily and monthly records of water and sewer usage; <br />ensures proper amounts of chlorine are added to the water system; <br /> <br />Gathers samples for monthly water quality tests; performs monthly <br />PH test and residual water test; <br /> <br />Cleans sewage baskets and applies degreaser once a week at county <br />sewer stations; <br /> <br />Performs related duties as required. <br /> <br />JOB RRT~TEDPHYSICALACTIVITYREOUIRRN~NTS: This position involves <br />heavy requiring the employee to exert up to 100 pounds of force <br />occasionally and less force frequently to move objects. Physical <br />activity related to this position may include climbing, balancing, <br />stooping, kneeling, crouching~ crawling, reaching, standing, <br />walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, <br />talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Sufficient visual acuity <br />is required to operate machinery and perform mechanical or skilled <br />trades tasks. An employee in this position is subject to indoor <br />and outdoor environmental conditions including extreme heat and <br />cold, noise and vibrations; subject to hazards of working around <br />moving mechanical parts; subject to atmospheric conditions <br />including fumes and dusts; subject to exposure to oils and cutting <br />fluids; and is subject to working in close quarters or crampt <br />spaces. <br /> <br />REOUI~RD KNO~T.Rn~E. SKTT~. AND ABILITIR~: Considerable knowledge <br />of common methods, materials, and tools used in the mechanical and <br />electrical trades; knowledge of Utility department policies and <br />procedures; ability to perform medium to heavy physical work; <br />ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to <br />maintain effective working relationships with other employees; <br />ability to read blueprints. <br /> <br /> <br />
