Head .~f --~-~----//'/> <br />Pets. Offer. - <br />Area Mgr. .~45d - 1t./5.~y <br /> <br />An employee in this class is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Coddle Creek <br />Dam. Duties include the monitoring of engineering and environment factors for internal, state, <br />and federal reports; and taking any appropriate actions. Requires tact in frequent contacts with <br />local officials, state and federal agencies, and the general public. Considerable independent <br />judgment and initiative are required in the day-to-day performance of the job. Work is <br />performed under the general direction of the Area Manager and is evaluated through periodic <br />conferences, written reports, as well as through feedback from the City of Concord Water <br />Department, state and federal agencies and the general public. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS <br /> <br />Keeps tree and shrub growth off rip rap area of dam by cutting and/or applying herbicides. <br /> <br />Operates tractor to mow designated areas including outer slopes of dam. <br /> <br />Monitors contracted services, such as mowing, for the reservoir. <br /> <br />Walks perimeter of lake to monitor for soil erosion or other damage to integrity of slopes. <br /> <br />Patrols shoreline of lake by boat to monitor tree and vegetation growth, erosion, and improper <br />access so as to provide information for required environmental repons. <br /> <br />Coordinates wetlands irrigation monitoring with contract engineers, North Carolina State <br />University and the North Carolina Forestry Service. <br /> <br />Monitors and maintains a sewage pump station and sewer fields. <br /> <br />Takes and records inclinometer readings using a sensor lowered down 2 well casings to <br />detemdne any movement in the internal structure of the dam. <br /> <br />Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
