The committee experienced the following strengths during the year:

1. Good workin~ relationship with the Adult Care Home Administrators and
good rapport with the facilities in general.

2. Participation in the Cabarrus County Long Term Care Administrators'
quarterly meetings.

3. Support of the local DSS representative who attended quarterly meetings.

4. Strong commitment and dedication on the part of those active ACHCAC
members.

5. Good communication between residents and ACHCAC members thus providing

a trust relationship.

6. Good working relationship with the Ombudsman.

7. Participated in a variety of church, civic, and community-related

agencies~organizations/activities.

The committee experienced the following problems during the year:

1. Incomplete membership and not being a full committee the entire year.

2. Lack of participation of some ACHCAC members or the inability to
actively serve due to overcommitments.

County Commissioners need to continue to make timely appointments to
ensure no delays in committee activity.

County Commissioners should consider interested and able committee

members for reappointment to ensure continuity with long term care
residents.

Continued need to provide more timely education to new County

Commissioners about the ACHCAC and the Region F Ombudsman Program.

6. Reduction of Ombudsman hours.

Other Committee Needs/Concerns:

1. To invite Cabarrus County Commissioners to attend quarterly meetings
and/or monitoring visits to the facilities with the ACHCAC.

Committee members are trained and supported by the Ombudsman Program of
Centralina Council of Governments, Region F. Back-up is provided by Ernest
Jones, Adult Home Specialist, Cabarrus County Department of Social Services.
L48.B
