Day, Area Manager ~///A~/~/ <br /> <br />DATE: February 28, 1996 <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Outsourcing versus ln-honse Microfilming <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />During a disct, ssion of the County's micrographics program at a Commissioners' worksession last <br />August, the Board directed staff to outsource backlogged microfilming and prepare a cost <br />comparison ofoutsourcing versus in-house microfilming. Currently, the County has one half-time <br />employee that is dedicated to microfilming <br /> <br />Three area companies responded to an invitation to run a small test batch of documents. Based <br />on the results, one company was eliminated due to very poor quality. <br /> <br />The other two companies, Reliable Microfilming, Inc., and Microfilm World, Inc., were then hired <br />to film 12 and 13 boxes of documents, respectively, with the finished product to be used as a final <br />determination of work quality.
