CABARRUS COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />PROPOSED TRANSFER OF ANIMAL CONTROL <br />FROM THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT <br /> TO THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />IMPLEMENTATION GUIDELINES: The following implementation guidelines have been <br />agreed upon: <br /> <br /> · If approved by the Board of Health and the Board of Commissioners, the Sheriffs <br />Department would become responsible for the County's animal control program to include field <br />operations, the shelter and cooperative efforts with the Health Department in providing rabies <br />control under G.S. 130A-187, G.S. 130A-194, and G.S. 130A-196. <br /> <br />· Personnel will be appointed by the Health and Sheriffs Departments to act as: <br /> <br />- A tran.~ition team <br /> <br />- The liaisons between the departments on animal/rabies control matters. <br /> <br /> · Animal Control employees would be evaluated by the Sheriff and technically rehired <br />under the authority defined in G.S. 153A-I03. <br /> <br />· Animal Control personnel would be subject to the following job classification changes: <br /> <br />FROM TO <br /> <br />Animal Control Supervisor I (Grade 64) <br /> <br />Sergeant (Grade 68) <br />or Animal Control Supervisor (Grade 65) <br /> <br />Animal Control Officer II (Grade 61) <br /> <br />Deputy Sheriff(Grade 64) <br />or Animal Control Officer (Grade 61) <br />- would work in shelter and/or do field <br />work <br /> <br />Processing Assistant III (Grade 58) <br /> <br />Shelter Office Assistant (Grade 59) <br />- some animal handling may be required <br /> <br />Attachment Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
