RESOLUTION HONORING THE <br />CITY OF CONCORD ON ITS <br />BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrns County was formed in the year 1792 by the General <br />Assembly of the State of North Carolina and named in honor of Stephen Cabarrns; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Concord was established in 1796 as the seat of government for <br />Cabarrus County and, through the efforts of many dedicated individuals, has grown and <br />prospered not only as the center of local government, bat of business, industry and health <br />care facilities serving citizens throughout Cabarrus County; and <br /> <br /> WHE~, the year 1996 marks the two hundredth anniversary of the founding <br />of Concord and a Bicentennial Celebration is planned with special programs, projects and <br />other commemorative activities beginning April 1 and continuing the entire month; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this month long celebration will provide an excellent opportunity for <br />the citizens of Concord and all of Cabarrus County to come together to learn about and recall <br />the achievements of the City and its citizens, to celebrate its history and to envision a bright <br />future of continuing city and county cooperation, economic growth and opportunities for all; <br />and <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE ITRESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners does hereby honor the City of Concord on the celebration of its <br />Bicentennial and call upon all Cabarrus County citizens to observe this special occasion and <br />to celebrate this milestone in the history of the City of Concord. <br /> <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of <br />Cabarrus County to be affixed, this the __ day of ,1996. <br /> <br />Jeffrey L.
