Alcohol - FHWA For purposes of alcohol testing for drivers required to obtain CDL's, the FHWA defines the term "safety sensitive function" to include all time in which the driver begins to work or is required to be in readiness to work until that driver is relieved from all work and responsibility including: 1. All time spent at the terminal facility, or other property or on any other public property, waiting to be dispatched, unless the driver has been relieved from duty 2. All time inspecting equipment or otherwise servicing or commissioning any commercial vehicle at any time 3. All driving time 4. All time, other than driving time, in any commercial motor vehicle 5. All time spent performing post accident procedures 6. All time repairing, obtaining assistance, or remaining in attendance upon a disabled vehicle D. Alcohol - FTA For purposes of alcohol testing for employees who perform safety sensitive functions where the County or its contractors receive federal funding under Section 3, 9, or 18 of the Federal Transit Act or 23 U.S.C. 103 (e)(4), the FTA defines the term "safety sensitive" to include: · 1. Operating a revenue service vehicle, including when not in revenue service 2. Operating a non-revenue service vehicle when required to be operated by a holder ora CDL 3. Controlling the dispatch or movement of a revenue service vehicle 4. Maintaining a revenue service vehicle or equipment used in revenue service, unless the County or its contractor is operating under Section 18 of the Federal Transit Act and contracts out such service - 2 -
