Barnhart <br />April 1, 1996 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />To cover these extra-ordinary expenses, the Centralina Board of Delegates voted to <br />request donations to help defer expenses. The amount requested, based on a formula <br />adopted by the Board of Delegates, is as follows: three-quarters of a cent per capita for <br />all counties except Mecklenburg and one and one-half cents per capita for both the City <br />of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. This was felt to be appropriate because the <br />financial benefits to be realized by Charlotte/Mecklenburg were felt to be greater than that <br />of surrounding areas. On the basis of this formula, the Board of Delegates requests that <br />your governing board consider making a contribution in the amount of $786.00. <br /> <br />In conclusion, having this meeting in Charlotte provides an excellent opportunity to <br />showcase the Centralina area and what our region has to offer. Furthermore, since <br />various activities will be spread around the region (e.g., the opening reception and <br />banquet will be held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Cabarrus County), we think all <br />sections of the region will benefit. <br /> <br />I appreciate your consideration of this request and would welcome the opportunity to <br />have a member of our staff discuss this with you in greater depth at a Commission <br />meeting.
