ACTUAL PERSONNEL COST

Total salary and other compensation cost for the two officers selected for these RSO
assignments are as follows:

Two officers Assigned to RSO Duty

$75,848.39 (Includes salary, retirement, uniform cost, liability insurance, etc.)

Monthly cost would be $6320.70 (or $63,207.00 to be reimbursed for 10 months
service).

Net amount of the officers salary to be covered by the County is $12,641.39 for 2 months
service.

Two new (replacement) officers for the two assigned to the schools

$62, 818.02 (Includes salary, retirement, uniform cost, liability insurance, etc.).

Note: It wouM appear that since the county already pays the current officers more than
the new officers cost and the schools are reimbursing for I0 months of their (senior
officers) salary an amount that is actually more than the amount of the replacement
officers total compensation, the county will realize an actual net gain in compensation.
The net gain or at least a consistent break even shouM occur because the amount being
reimbursed for the 10 months is $12,469 less than the total amount available for
reimbursement. These funds will act as a buffer to future salary increases or additional
time spent doing that job for the officers being used as RSOs.

OFFICER EQUIPMENT

*Items not covered in the reimbursement calculations*

Vehicles: Part of the duties of these officers will be to monitor the arrival and departure
of students to the schools. It is necessary that they be assigned a marked patrol car for
this purpose. The visibility and deterrent effect of this vehicle is important to the mission
of resource officers. We will not need to purchase vehicles for this assignment. We will
hold over two vehicles when our replacement vehicles arrive for this year. We will have
to increase our number of replacement vehicles to offset the higher number of vehicle
when necessary and as needed to keep our vehicles consistent with the county fleet
policy.

Portable Radios and handguns: We will not need to pumhase portable radios or
handguns for the officers use because we have those on hand as spares at this time.

Crt
