DEVELOPMENT OF A MISSION STATEMENT <br />FOR <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY GOVERNMENT <br /> <br />OBJECTIVE: <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />To put into words the purpose(s) for which Cabarrus County Government <br />exist(s), and thereby clarifying and formalizing the direction of our <br />employees' daily work. <br /> <br />Development of a mission statement will proceed in a straight-forward <br />manner with input from employees at all levelg. <br /> <br />TARGET DATES <br /> <br />Recruitment of employee representatives <br />to the committee responsible for drafting <br />the mission statement. <br /> <br />November 1, 1996 <br /> <br />Samples and other information concern- <br />ing mission statements will be sent to <br />committee members prior to first meeting.. <br /> <br />November 5, 1996 <br /> <br />Development of an initial draft mission <br />statement by committee members. This <br />will be done in 1-1/2 to 2 hour lunch <br />meetings. It is estimated there will need <br />to be 2 or 3 meetings. <br /> <br />December 2, 1996 <br /> <br />Committee members share initial draft of <br />the mission statement with employees in <br />their own departments to elicit comments <br />and suggestions. <br /> <br />December 16, 1996 <br /> <br />Committee refines the mission <br />statement into a final draft version to <br />be submitted to County Manager. <br /> <br />January 13, 1997 <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
