PUBLIC SCHOOL TREE DECORATING CONTEST <br /> <br />The Tree Decorating Contest began in 1992 for all schools in the Cabarrus County and <br />Kannapolis City School systems. First, second and third place, prizes were awarded in the <br />categories of Elementary, Middle, and High School in 1992. The categories were expanded <br />in 1993 to include two categories, Grades K-2 and Grades 3-5, for the elementary schools. The <br />prize money is restricted to the purchase of computer equipment and/or software that is <br />included in the technology plan for the school. <br /> <br />Listed below is information regarding the contests for each of the four years. <br /> <br />1992 <br /> <br />14 entries - Awarded prizes totaling $9,000 as follows: <br />Elementary: Harrisburg ($2,000); Jackson Park ($750); Coltrane Webb <br /> ($250); and Fred L. Wilson ($250) <br />Middle: Northwest ($2,000); J. N. Fries ($750) <br />High School: Northwest ($2,000); Mt. Pleasant ($750); Central Cabarms <br /> ($250). <br /> <br />1993- <br /> <br />12 entries - $8600 allocated for prize money - $7,625 awarded to the following <br />schools: <br />Elementary (K-2): Fred L. Wilson ($1,400); Royal Oaks ($525) <br />Elementary (3-5): Harrisburg ($1,400); Fred L. Wilson ($525); Jackson <br /> Park ($225); Winecoff ($225) <br />Middle: Mt. Pleasant - ($1,400), Northwest ($525) <br />High School: Mt. Pleasant - ($1,400) <br /> <br />1994- <br /> <br />1995 <br /> <br />21 entries - $7,000 allocated for prize money - $6,775 awarded to the following <br />schools: <br />Elementary (K-2): W. R. Odell ($1,000); Fred L. Wilson ($525); Bethel <br /> ($225) <br />Elementary (3-5): Harrisburg ($1,000); Mt. Pleasant Elementary ($525); <br /> Jackson Park Elementary ($225) <br />Middle: Northwest Middle ($1,000); Mt. Pleasant Middle ($525) <br />High School: A. L.
