Bakers Creek Park / Greenway <br /> <br /> Bakers Creek Park is a beautiful 38 acre facility espe- <br /> cially nice for family reunions, company outings, and church <br /> picnics. Each of the three shelters are 30' x 70' and will seat 200 <br /> visitors. The shelters are equipped with lights, electrical <br /> receptacles, water, large grills, horseshoe pits, and ping pong <br /> tables. Sports equipment such as horseshoes, basketballs, and <br /> volleyballs may be signed out at no charge with a shelter <br /> reservation. There are also individual picnic sites located <br />.... garough..out the.park, ali equipped with grills. The largest <br /> picnic site will seat up to 40 visitors. <br /> The play area was recently remodeled with new equip- <br /> ment added. Most popular is the structure with 4 slides, <br /> including one large spiral slide. The climbing structures and <br /> small bridge enhance the piece. Other favorites are the new <br /> back hoe digger and bus bouncer. Sand toys are also available <br /> to be signed out at the park concession stand. <br /> The Miniature Golf course provides entertainment for <br /> all ages. It is located near the park office and restrooms. The <br /> park also has a small concession area which usually serves <br /> pizza, popcorn, candy, drinks and more. <br /> Favorites at BakersCreekParkare volleyball, basketball, <br /> and softball. The fields are utilized by church groups, leagues, <br /> and individuals and may be reserved. The area is equipped <br /> with lights for night play April through August. <br /> The Park also offers tennis p!ay year round. There are <br /> four well lighted courts just as you enter the park. <br /> Camping is also available for any group or organization. <br /> This isprimitive tentcamping alongside a small waterfall. The <br /> three sites can hold 25 tents and are well shaded with bea uti £ul <br /> tre~s and wildflowers. <br /> The natural spring located near the tennis courts adds <br /> historical value to the park as it was built in the 1800's. There <br /> is a trail with steps leading down to the site overlooking a <br /> creek. <br /> .... There~arethree trails that visitors enjoy when coming to <br /> Bakers Creek Park. The science trail has been made informa- <br /> tive with signs and plaques. Guided tours are available as well <br /> as information on the many trees and plant life on this trail. <br /> The 1/2 mile trail can be a short cut to the newly paved <br /> grecnway trail. It's a lovely ~rail with wildlife, bridges, and <br /> benches for rest. <br /> Bakers Creek Park is truly a unique park as it is jointly <br /> funded by two county governments, Cabarrus and Rowan, and <br /> by the City of Kaunapolis. This is the first time such a joint <br /> effort to provide recreational services has been undertaken in <br /> the state of North Carolina. <br /> <br /> <br />
