Location and Estimated Duration

The exact location of the screenings will be determined by the coalition and by the availability of staff
involved in the screening. The most probable location is the Cabarms County Health Department or Cabarrus
Urology Clinic, or both. Other options include the Cabarrus County Health Department Mobile Unit,
Kannapolis or Logan Satellite Clinics, or worksites or churches within Cabarrus County.
The duration of this pilot project will be until July 1, 1996. The potential for prostate cancer screen-
ing to continue as a part of other clinics is great. Both the Adult Wellness Program and the Breast and
Cervical Cancer Control Program lend themselves to be expanded to include prostate cancer.

Planned Method and Criteria for Evaluation of Project

Evaluation of this pilot project will be done in several ways. The first screening will forecast much
of the way the subsequent screenings are implemented. Health Department statfand Cabarrus Urology will
rely on number of participants and screening results as indicators of success.
The coalition will evaluate the project in a more qualitative way. They will concentrate on the
success of the project outside of the numbers. Mass media, churches, worksites, sub-communities, and
cross-cultural successes will be their focus.
Finally, the Cabarrus County Board of Health has shown keen interest in supporting efforts in pros-
tate cancer screening. Summaries of each screening will be recorded in quarterly reports to the board. Any
proposals to integrate prostate cancer screening into existing health department programs must be approved
by the board first and then by the Cabarrus County Commissioners.
