INVITATION TO BID <br /> FOR <br />FOOD SERVICES CONTRACT <br /> <br />NUTRITION PROGRAM FOR THE ELDERLY <br /> <br />Cabarrus County is formally requesting bids for private contractors to provide Bulk Catering <br />Services for the Nutrition Program for the Elderly for the period July 1, 1995 to lune 30, 1996 <br />according to the specifications and conditions set forth herein and attached. A Pre-Bid <br />Conference will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 1995, at the Cabarrus County Senior <br />Center, 331 Corban Avenue, S.E., Concord, N.C. Sealed bids will be received until 2:00 p.m. <br />on June 7, 1995 at the Cabarrus County Senior Center, 331 Corban Avenue, S. E., Concord, <br />N.C. Bids which are mailed should be sent to Cabarrus County Dept. of Aging, P.O. Box <br />1005, Concord, NC 28026-1005 with the following designation marked on the sealed envelope: <br />"Bid for Congregate Meals". The pre-bid conference will include a tour of all current <br />Congregate Nutrition Sites. Transportation for this tour will be provided by the Cabarrus <br />County Department of Aging. <br /> <br />By: <br /> <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> Jeffrey Barnhart, Chairman <br />John Witherspoon, County Manager <br /> <br />pURPOSE: The purpose of the Nutrition Program is to serve a nutritious meal to individuals <br />age 60 and older in strategically located community sites in Cabarrus County. Eligible <br />participants will receive one hot nutritious meal per serving day with 1/3 of the current minimum <br />Recommended Daily Allowances for older adults (as established by the Food and Nutrition <br />Boards of the National Research Council.) <br /> <br />CONDITIONS: The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners will determine the acceptability <br />of the bid. Bids shall be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder taking into consideration past <br />quality performance, service unit cost, bidder's qualifications, completeness and accuracy of the <br />bid, and bidder's history of providing the service. Bids are awarded by the Board of <br />Commissioners based on recommendations to the County Manager. The County reserves the <br />right to reject any and all bids and to accept the bid most favorable to the county. <br /> <br />BID BOND: All bids must be accompanied by a bid deposit. The deposit should be computed <br />to equal 5% of the net bid price for a total of 60,000 meals. The deposit may be in the form <br />of cash, certified check, cashiers check, or a bid bond. The bond must be executed by a <br />corporate security licensed under the laws of North Carolina (G.S. 143-129). Other forms of <br />deposit are not acceptable. <br /> <br /> <br />
