Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes <br />Tune 15~ 1995 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Applicant; Planning~ Zoning~ Building Inspection Department <br />Request; Administrative Rezoning <br /> <br />This was a request to the Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning <br />Commission from the Cabarrus County Planning, Zoning, Building <br />Inspection Department, Petition 95-02, to have property located at <br />N.C. 73/Macedonia Church Road/Trinity Church Road rezoned <br />for administrative rezoning. <br /> <br />Mr. Jonathan B. Marshall Staff Member, addressed the Board <br />presenting Petition 95-02 stating that the board looked at this last <br />month approving the proposed rezonings to the south of Highway <br />73, but had issues with the properties to the north of Highway 73. <br />Mr. Marshall said the Austin's have indicated that they would <br />agree to the rezoning to L-I, which is proposed to be changed from <br />a Low Densi.ty Residential to a Limited Industrial. We have <br />readvertised Mr. Barbee's 78 acre parcel along with his desire to <br />have that zoned Medium Density Residential. Before you is a letter <br />from Mr. Maurice Ewing, Greater Cabarrus County Economic <br />Development Corporation, addressing this and the other petition. <br />Mr. Ewing is here this evening if the board would like to ask him <br />any questions. <br /> <br />Mr. B.J. Barbcc, Resident, addressed the Board stating he was here <br />last month requesting a MDR zoning on approximately 78 acres of <br />his home place. He said he knows he cannot stop progress, but if <br />he could get his land zoned MDR, he has a potential buyer who is <br />willing to build some nice single homes that would compliment the <br />area. <br /> <br />Mr. Starkey Sharp, Attorney representing Mr. Barbee, addressed <br />the Board stating that this property has bccn in Mr. Barbee's family <br />for a long time and they sort of set the tone for what they wanted <br />this property to be like. He said everytime the board considers a <br />zoning petition, there are three groups that they have to look at in <br />trying to decide what is best for the county. You look at what the <br />taxpayer has to say (the property owner), the affect on the <br />neighborhood and the affect of the whole county of what you are <br />about to do.
