1994 95 Accomplishments <br /> <br />Playground Additions at Frank Liske Park <br />A major project at Frank Liske Park was the installation <br />of new playground equipment. All new equipment has <br />been installed at the Barn to replace the equipment that <br />was built in-house ten years ago. One of the components <br />at the Barn will have safety surfacing added this year to <br />comply with ADA requirements, New equipment was <br />also installed at the lake playground to replace the ten <br />year old equipment that was built in-house. A new play <br />area was also added to the Philip Morris shelter area and <br />a new ADA fitness area is being completed close to the <br />tennis complex. <br /> <br />New Offices for Cabarrus County Parks and Recre- <br />ation Department <br />On August 15, 1994, the Cabarrus County Parks and <br />Recreation administrative offices relocated to the <br />Cabarrus Governmental Center in the area formerly <br />occupied by Cabarrus Board of Election. <br /> <br />Support for Cabarrus County Matching Incentive <br />Grant Program <br />$100,000 was appropriated in Cabarrus County Funds in <br />1994-95. Cabarrus County was able to fund fifteen <br />community recreational improvement projects in <br />Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />ADA Improvements <br />Completed many modifications and improvements at <br />Bakers Creek Park and Frank Liske Park in an effort to <br />comply with Americans with Disabilities Act. These <br />include: new playground equipment, asphalt/concrete <br />sidewalks, trails, etc., rubberized surface for playgrounds, <br />accessible fitness area, installing handrails, etc. <br /> <br />Safety Award <br />On April 4 the N. C. Department of Labor awarded a <br />Safety Award for the fourth consecutive year to the <br />Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department <br /> <br />School / Park Concept <br />In 1994-95, the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation <br />Commission and staff completed major steps toward the <br />implementation of the School/Park concept in Cabarrus <br />County. <br /> <br />Proposed Park at Lake Concord <br />On May 1 t, 1995, the officials of Cabarrus County and <br />City of Concord agreed to merge their water/sewer <br />services. The City of Concord will convey Lake Con- <br />cord and 340 acres to the county for development as a <br /> <br /> <br />
