PETITION 95-05(T) <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CABARRUS COUNTY' <br /> ZONING ORDINANCE <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED that the Cabarrus County Zoning Ordinance is hereby mended as <br />follows: <br /> <br />AMEND SECTION 6-11 TO READ AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 6-11 - ABANDONED AND JUNK VEHICLES <br /> <br />Abandoned and junked motor vehicles comtimte a hazard to the health, safety, and general <br />welfare of the citizens of Cabarms County. Such vehicles can harbor noxious disease, provide <br />shelter and breeding places for vemdn, and present physical dangers to the safety of our children <br />as well as the general public. Further, these vehicles detract from the physical appearance of the <br />community. It is therefore, the purpose of this section is to eliminate existing junked and <br />abandoned vehicles and to prevent furore storage of these vehicles. <br /> <br />From the date of the adoption of this amendment, no junked or abandoned vehicles shall be <br />stored on any lot within any residential, commerdal, or industrial zoning district that can be <br />easily seen from an adjacent property or a public fight-of-way. <br /> <br />EXCEPTIONS - This section does not apply to any motor vehicle that is: <br /> <br />1. Is stored in an enclosed building; <br /> <br />2. On the premises of a business enterprise being operated in a lawful place and manner <br />if the vehicle is necessary to the operation of the business; <br /> <br />3. Is presently being restored to an operable stage, this is limited to one vehicle; <br /> <br />4. Cannot be seen from a public right-of-way or adjacent property line. <br />Any violation of this section will be processed just as any other violation of this <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />AMEND SECTION 2-2 TO ADD THE FOLLOWING DEFINITIONS: <br /> <br />SECTION 2-2 DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />Abandoned Vehicle - Any motor vehicle that is: <br /> <br />I. Left on public grounds or county-owned property in violation of a law or ordinance <br />prohibiting parking; <br /> <br /> <br />
