CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />~l{)b Traininp Activities <br /> <br />Conducted Job Training program monitoring of job training activities with the following <br />Cabarrus County contractors: <br /> <br />Employment Security Commission - Concord - November 2 and 3 <br />N.C. Department of Labor (Raleigh financial office) - November 28 <br />Employment Security Commission (Raleigh financial office) - November 29 <br />and 30 <br /> <br />Completed and distributed Job Training program monitoring reports for the following <br />Cabarrus County contractors: <br /> <br />* Kannapolis City Schools - November 7 <br /> <br />Facilitated Cabarrus County One-Stop Career Center Advisory Partnership Meeting <br />in Concord on November 6. DiscuSSed implementation readiness criteria for a one-stop <br />career center in the county and sought local input. Meeting was attended by <br />representatives from ESC, Rowan-Cabarrus CC, Vocational Rehabilitation, Kannapolis City <br />Schools, Cabarrus County Schools, Department of Social Services, and Centralina WDB <br />members James Polk and Jim Lunsford. <br /> <br />Prepared and submitted, on behalf of the Centralina Workforce Development Board and <br />Workforce Development Consortium, a One-Stop Career Center Implementation Grant. <br />The proposal was submitted to the Governor's Commission on Workforce Preparedness <br />on November 30. It details Centralina's plan for integration of services, networking of <br />human service providers, and enhancing workforce development services to all customers <br />in the region. Additionally, staff participated in One-Stop RFP Bidders Teleconference at <br />UNCC on November 20. <br /> <br />Attended meeting on November 15 at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College with President <br />Richard Brownell and Deans Shirley Luckadoo and Jack Lanning to obtain the college's <br />commitment to one-stop career center development in Cabarrus and Rowan counties. <br /> <br />Participated in 1995 Governor's Workforce Development Conference in Greensboro on <br />November 7-9. Attended by over 700 people including Centralina SDA staff, 4 WDB <br />members, and contractor staff. <br /> <br />Participated in workforce development luncheon at Central Piedmont Community College <br />on November 7. The luncheon sponsored by CPCC and Centralina COG board member <br />George Higgins and attended by business, government, and school leaders focused on <br />workforce development and the need for more trained workers in the trades area. Group <br />members were surveyed. Reports will be forthcoming. <br /> <br /> <br />
