County Fire Departments <br /> <br /> The County Fire Department has requested that the <br />Communications Center change dispatch procedures because of ISO <br />rating, and because of the low turn out of volunteer fire dept. <br />personnel. The N.C. Insurance Services Office (ISO) sets ratings <br />by reviewing the current Communications procedures and how much <br />water a fire dept. can provide at a fire scene. These <br />classifications are what insurance companies use to determine how <br />much the insurance premiums will be for a fire insurance policy for <br />a business or home. If the procedure is changed and this county <br />obtains an ISO rating of 6 or better, this could save a business or <br />homeowner on his/her fire insurance premiums (see example below). <br />The current CAD system will not be able to be programmed to perform <br />this multiple fire department type of dispatch (see Cabarrus County <br />Fire Chiefs Associations letter on next page). <br /> <br />Insurance Premiums Relative to ISO Public Protection <br />Classifications <br /> <br /> The charts below are examples of the annual insurance premiums <br />for a new, brick home valued at $100,000.00 with smoke detectors, <br />and a $100,000.00 Office Building.
