These services help to s~abilize the crisis
which may put a child at imminent risk, help defuse the potential for
violence, and help families to develop $l~t]ls to hamdle future crisis
situations more effectively.

Our agency began' a family preservation program in 1990 ,-rolled the
"Home Remedies" program. There are a total of fourteen family
preservation programs in the state which are eli~Ible for these K~ants.
It is a_r!ticipated that the Department of H~m~_ Resources will award six to
seven gr~nts. The grants are being provided to help strengthen and
expand existing programs to fully comply with family preservation services
program policies and standards.

Currently the child protective services (CPS) treatment supervisor
supervises five child protective services workers, lwo Home Based services
workers, and one family preservation worker. State policy requ!~es that
for child protective services there be one supervisor for every five
workers, and in family preservation services one supervisor for every four
workers.
