Bartlett ~?'a7- O. ~ SUBJECT: Voter Registration Grant Award The above amount has been awarded to your county for implementation of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. In determining the amount awarded to each county, this office evaluated county population; unregistered, eligible voting age population; and current voter registration activity. Also, considered were economic need, participation in voter registration activity as shown on Citizens Awareness Month Report, and items requested in grant application. Amounts awarded, in most cases, were near $ I 0,000 with counties having lower percentage registered and economically distressed receiving first consideration. A check for the above amount will be issued by the Office of State Budget and Management and mailed to your office within the next ten days. If you have not received your check by November 9, 1994 please contact Ann Byerly at 919-715-1825. The State Board of EIections will request additional funding during the next session of the General Assembly. However, you are cautioned that these are one-time, non-recurring funds. Any commitments made which require recurring funds will be the responsibility of the County when these'funds are exhausted. Thank you for your input in the applications and for the budget information for future years. This information will be complied and submitted to the General Assembly for consideration.
