CONTRACT Human Services Transportation for County of Cabarrus, North Carolina This con~ract made and entered into this __ day of December, 1994, by and between County cf Cabarrus, North Carolina, P. O. Box 707, Concord, NC 2802~, herelnaf~er referred to as CO%~TY, and Mayflower Contract Services, Inc., 5560 College Boulevard, Overland Park, KS 66211, hereinafter referred to as MCS. Witnesseth: Whereas, CO%~TY desires to purchase transportation services at a coordinated and economical rate per mi!e, under the terms and conditions set forth herein; A~ Whereas ~4CS agrees to enter into this contract tunder the terms and conditions set f~rth herein; Now therefore, in consideration of the mutual agreement, the following articles are set forth: ~_~TICLE I. MCS WILL: Provide all administrative and related services to ensure reliable 5ransporuaticn at ~he lowest possible cost, and will schedule all services vehicle/space available basis; B. Lease CO~JD~Y vehicles for the sum of $1.00 each per vehicle per year prcvidin~ transportation for ~he paraicipating human service agencies; guaranuaes ~hat the CO5~TY vehicles will be used as the primary source of vehicles in providing this service; C. 5~anage and operate the system for a twelve month period beg~n~.ing January i~ 1995 and ending Dece.ntber 31, 1995; with option to renew under the terms of ~his agreement by mutual consent for up to two additional one year periods ('~.%i! Decer~er 31, 1997). Managing and operatin~ the system is ,~nderstoo~ uc include: Er. ploying staff and drivers; Purchasing fuel, supplies, and all ~.vpes cf insurance reqfuired; Leasing vans and office space; Maintaining and dispatching vans; 5~aintaining all financial and operations records; Biilin~ the participants for the transportation provided; Coordinating client ~ransporta~ion ~o provide the maximum number of client trips at the lowest reasonable cost to the agencies; Participatin~ in any vehicle preventive maintenance and driver training programs sponsored by the North Carolina Department cf Transportation; Appropriately train and supervise drivers ~c be sensitive ~o the special needs of the passengers cf the system; and col!ecttng any special surcharges or gasoline refunds on behalf of the participants (such as surcharge for vehicle replacement); D.
