me

Resolution of Support for RCCC

Resolution of Support

The Cabarrus Cpunty Board of Commissioners endorses the
inclusion in the State Construction Bond Referendum of a
Classroom Building project for the South Campus of Rowan-
Cabarrus Community College. The Commissioners intend to
support, to the extent possible, the operation and maintenance
costs of this construction if it materializes; and additional
construction amounts required pending approval by the voters
of Cabarrus County if it is required.

Exulanation

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College has in its Facilities Master
Plan, plans for four additional buildings at the South Campus
in Cabarrus County. Two of these would be included in this
project.

Classroom Building Project - If the State Construction Bond is
approved by the Legislature and approved by the voters,
slightly more than half, or $1.6 million, of the total cost
($3.0'million) of these buildings would be paid from State
Bond sale proceeds. This is because Cabarrus County over the
past two years has invested nearly $150,000 in capital
improvements to the campus. These buildings would be built in
1996 or 1997. If these buildings are built in 1996, as is now
envisioned, they would most likely require county general
obligation bond funding approved in 1995 or possibly as late
as 1996.
