Cabarrus County Health Department

715 CabarrusAvenue W, · P.O. Box 1149 · Concord, N. C. 25026- 1149 · Area Code 704/786-8121
William F. Pilkington, ;lealth D£rector

February 9, 1993

John Witherspoon, County Manager
Cabarrus County
P. O. Box 707
Concord, North Carolina 28026-0707

Dear Mr. witherspoon:

Bradshaw Medical Group has been providing contracted nursing
service at the Cabarrus County Jail for the past sixteen
months. Bradshaw Medical Group has canceled the contract
effective February 28, 1993. Under the contract, Bradshaw
provided nurses to the jail for 28 hours per week.

In the process of exploring solutions to how best to provide
jail health services in a cost effective manner it appears
that the best alternative is hiring our own nurse. One of
the nurses currently on contract is willing to accept
employment as our jail health nurse. This nurse would work
a forty hour week at an annual salary plus benefits at
approximately $36,000 which is what we have budgeted for
jail health for FY 93-94. In addition, the county would get
40 hours instead of 28 hours of nursing care at the jail.

Because the contract for jail health services expires at the
end of this month, we need to respond quickly to this
problem. Thank you for considering this request.

With best regards,

William F.
