Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes <br />January 21, 1993 <br /> <br />Page 13 <br /> <br />particular plan hinges on the Westside Bypass coming in <br />which isn't going to start for another 6 years, if it <br />starts then. He does believe that the board has an <br />obligation, that when they create these plans for the <br />County to guide growth and what we project that the <br />citizens want also. He said he thinks the board does <br />have responsibility to try to adhere these plans. <br /> <br />Ms. Stafford said she has some concerns, mostly about <br />that large industrial area where there are no specific <br />plans brought before the board. She said she also has <br />concern about the traffic. <br /> <br />Mr. Amos said he also has some concerns. He said the <br />board heard loud and clear that the individuals living in <br />that area would like to see it stay residential in <br />character and see the commercial development be down <br />around the 29 corridor which is consistent with the <br />Western Area Plan that was done there. If we take and <br />publish plans and then less than two or three months <br />later we come back and put in major developments that are <br />inconsistent with that, then he questions why the <br />planning process is even done. <br /> <br />There being no further comments, Mr. Smith MOTIONED, <br />seconded by Ms. Stafford to deny Petition 93-01 as <br />presented. The vote was unanimous. <br /> <br />The Chair stated to the Board that Mr. <br />present tonight because he son was <br />accident. <br /> <br />Newton was not <br />in3ured in an <br /> <br />The Chair said she would like to make a couple of <br />announcements. She said she presented the Robert <br />Faggart, Jr. petition to the Commissioners and it was <br />approved. <br /> <br />The Chair stated that four positions expired on the <br />board. Mr. Olio-Mills seat on the board is expiring, but <br />the Commissioners did not fill his seat as of yet. <br />Howard Hurlocker, Dennis Shultz and Tim Huie seats <br />expired. The Chair said on behalf of the board they do <br />appreciate their service to us, their hard work, their <br />integrity and their service to the community and they <br />wish them the best. She also extended the same to <br />Kenneth Olio-Mills. <br /> <br /> <br />
