RESOLUTION <br /> <br />Whereas, <br /> <br />the Centrallna Ombudsman program began in 1983 and Region <br />F has grown to 9,871 beds with 730 nursing home beds <br />scheduled to be built; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 has placed <br /> additional responsibilities on the Ombudsman program; and <br /> <br />Whereas, <br /> <br />the funding received from the federal and state levels <br />only pays for one and one tenth Ombudsman positions at <br />Centralina; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the state recommended minimum for Centrallna is for two <br /> and one half positions; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the bed count for Region F is the largest in the state; <br /> and <br /> <br />Whereas, the bed count and Ombudsman positions are not equitable <br /> across the state; and <br /> <br />Whereas, Senate Bill 33 for increased Ombudsman funding has been <br /> referred to appropriations, and <br /> <br />Whereas, the Ombudsman program needs to maintain or expand its <br /> advocacy efforts, <br /> <br />Bm it resolved that: <br /> <br />A more equitable formula bs drafted by the North Carolina <br />Division of Aging to distribute funds to the regions. <br /> <br />All legislators be notified regarding the need for additional <br />state funds for the Ombudsman program and the fornula to <br />distribute those funds. <br /> <br />Ail Boards of County Commissioners in Region F adopt this <br />resolution and forward it to their state elected officials <br />requesting immediate action. <br /> <br />Further be it resolved that a copy of this resolution, prepared by <br />the Ombudsman Funding Ad Hoc Committee in Region F, be forwarded to <br />mem~r$ of the North Carolina Aging Study Co~isslon, the Secretary <br />of the Department of Human Resources, the Director of the Division <br />of Facility Services and the Director of the Division of Aging. <br /> <br />Attested~ <br /> <br />Adopted this <br /> <br />Day of <br /> <br />Title <br /> <br /> , 1993 <br /> <br /> <br />
