CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WltEREAS, April has been designated Child Abuse Prevention Month by Governor Jim <br /> Hunt and the National Committee for Prevention of Child Abuse; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Last year in North Carolina, over 76,000 children were reported abused or <br /> neglected; and <br /> <br />%VI--IEREAS, <br /> <br />in Cabarrus County Schools, blue ribbons will be worn by educators in <br />support of children and in recognition of this increasingly complex problem; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Child abuse is a problem that concerns us all. Children suffer physical and <br />emotional trauma; society suffers also, with lives ruined and homes broken; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The unfortunate, harsh reality of child abuse is a fact that each of us must <br /> face and each must play a significant role in preventing. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carolyn B. Carpenter, Chairman of the Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioners do hereby proclaim Monday, April 5, 1993, as <br /> <br />BLUE RIBBON FOR KIDS DAY <br /> <br />in Cabarrus County, and call this important day and month to the attention of all citizens <br />in Cabarrus County with the hope that all will collectively work to combat the problem of <br />child abuse. <br /> <br />This the 23rd day of March, 1993. <br /> <br />Carolyn B.
