RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Kannapolis has initiated proceedings to annex Area 'T' <br />located west of and contiguous to the present City limits; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, suite has been filed by opponents of the proposed annexation thereby <br />staying the effective date of the proposed annexation until the court has ruled on the <br />matter; and <br /> <br /> WltEREAS, the future development of "Area I" is of significant importance to <br />economic development in the City of Kannapolis; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in order to ensure that land development planning in "Area I" is <br />consistent with the overall land use plan for the entire City, it is essential that the City <br />of Kannapolis have jurisdiction over Area 'T'; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 160A-360 of the General Statutes of North Carolina <br />authorizes a City to exercise extraterritorial jurisdiction over an area extending not more <br />than three (3) miles beyond its limits with the approval of the Board of County <br />Commissioners. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br />Kannapolis, North Carolina requests the Cabarms Board of County Commissioners to <br />grant approval to the City Council of the City of Kannapolis to exercise extraterritorial <br />jurisdiction over "Area I" located west of and contiguous to the present City limits. <br /> <br />Adopted this 22nd day of March 1993. <br /> <br />~te (La~s, City Clerk <br /> <br />Bachman S.
