Page 2 of Carolyn Carpenter
Letter dated June 1, 1993

I would hope that the County Cc~anissioners would have applications for C~u,unity
Service on file and would appoint someone effective July 1, 1993 for a full three
Fear term to replace Mr. Alexis J. Stinson. You might also have another to replace the
unexpired term of Mr. Barry Wicker. This would be most helpful to the Task Force and
the decision processes for the "kids" of Cabarrus County.

As you are aware Cabarrus County Cu~,,]unity Based Alernatives Task Force is the
only State Certified Task Force in our Region of which we can be proud. One of the
requirements that has been waived in our behalf is the appointment of a Youth
Representative that has been in offense of the legal system and who has been changed
because of the programs that serve our county. It is extremely difficult to find a
prospective appointee fulfilling these requirements because of the age and the fact
that they are 3probably still a student in our school system. We meet on the second
Tuesday morning of each month, September through June and attendance seems prohibitive
at this point and time. We will continue to dialogue with the education system to
see is such a candidate exists.

At, our May 1993 meeting elections were held for the Fiscal Year 1993-1994 and
I was re-elected for a one year term as Chairperson of the Task Force. Although as
indicated before I was hesitant to accept. After careful thought and feeling the
responsiblity of Community Service I accepted and have pledged myself to do the best --
job I can to serve the "kids" of Cabarrus County and the trust that our County
C~,~,ission has appointed me to. Our Task Force has been very active this year and I
accepted the Chair with the understanding that we would continue to be assertive in _
our purpose and goals. Each of the active membership needs cc~mending for a "job
well done" on behalf of our target population and Cabarrus County. I thank you for your
continuing support and the support of the Cabarrus County Board of C~,~,~issioners as
we continue to serve the County and its children --

Thomas A. Kruchkow
Chairperson-CBA Task Force
P.O. Box 447
Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina 28124

tak
cc: file
inclosures: Jeffery A. Mingo Profile
