Concord Band Boosters
I)O, Box 46!.
Concord, North Carolina 28025

September 10, 1993

Cabarrus County Commissioners
Governmental Center
South Church Street
Concord, North Carolina 28025

Dear County Commissioners:

IRELAND FOREVER ! THE CONCORD HIGH SCHOOL HAS BEEN
GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME AND IT NEEDS YOUR HELP

At the invitation of the Lord Mayor of Dublin and the
Government of Ireland, the Concord High School Band,
along with only four other bands from the United States,
have been selected to represent our country in Dublin's
Annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade in March of 1994.
The Band will also serve as Musical Ambassadors to
Concord's sister city - Killarney, Ireland.

Dublin's Saint Patrick's Day Parade is an international
event, which will showcase bands from Ireland, America,
and several other European countries. Selection to
participate in this event is an honor reserved for only
a select group of marching units who have consistently
distinguished themselves through their dedication to excel,
both individually and collectively, in the field of music.

The association between Concord and Killarney has been
established under the auspices of Sister Cities International,
a non-profit organization founded to promote international
understanding and peace through cultural, educational and
people exchanges. Our students will indeed benefit by
participating in this exchange as well as providing some
good old American entertainment for the citizens of Killarney
and Ireland.

If we are going to make this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity a
reality for our students, the Band must rely on your generosity.
The five-day trip will cost each student one thousand dollars
($1000.00). The Band Boosters have dedicated themselves to
help each student raise at least one half the cost of their
trip through fund-raisers. As you well know, for some students,
coming up with the additional money for this trip can be
next to impossible.
