BYLAWS OF CJ%KOLINA$ P~i~FR-ERSHI~, INC. ~ The name of the corporation shall be the Carolinas Partnership, Inc. and its principal place of business shall be in Charlotte, North Carolina. to: The mission of the Carolinas Partnership, Inc. is a. stimulate commerce in the following counties: Anson, Cabarrus, Catawba, Cleveland, GasCon, Iredell, Lances%er, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, Union and York by encouraging the establishment and expansion of businesses in such !ocakions, (by using such techniques, among others, as the institution of an economic development marketing plan) thereby decreasing unemployment and increasing standards of living for the community generally; b. promote the common interest of the members of the corporation in stimulating demand for goods and services provided by said members through the recruitment of new businesses to the area in which said members conduct business and facilitate the expansion of existing area businesses; through related techn&ques of general economic development; and c. do any and all lawful acts and things, and to engaq~ in any and all lawful acti¢~ies which may be necessary or desirable in connection with one or more of the aforesaid purposms. Provided, however, that in carrying out its purposes and exercising its power, the Carolinas Partnership shall be subject to the limitation that it shall not engage in any activities which would cause it to fail to qualify under Section 501 (c)(6) of the United States Internal Revenue Code or successor provisions thereto. ~ ~eneral Powers. The government and policy-making decisions of the Carolinas Partnership shall be vested in the Board of Directors, which shall control its property, be responsible for its finances, and direct its affairs, including the election of members and the perpetuation of its own membership in accordance with the terms and provisions of these By-Laws.
